This working museum is set up as  a 1940's or 50's print shop. This is not a static display with a machine in a corner, but a fully functional printshop!

So come along and see it all happen before your eyes.

The Penrith Museum of Printing Group Visiting programme has been designed to provide visitors with knowledge and understanding of how the printed word used to be produced before the advent of the computer.

Our visitors often marvel at our fully operational linotype type setting machine which really is an amazing piece of mechanical wizardry.

Come and see our 1880's Wharfedale printing press and 1860's Albion Press and much much more. All the equipment is in operational order and is demonstrated to visitors in a safe and secure environment.

Tours are conducted:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturdays

What our tours say

Thank You’ to you and your wonderful team of volunteers at the Penrith Museum of Printing. Everybody really enjoyed their visit despite the very hot weather. One man who has travelled with me for well over 10 years said that it was one of the best museums we have visited.

The miniature press was a lovely surprise and it has pride of place in my lounge room for all that visit to see. Thank you very much. It is my pleasure to promote your museum as I think it is a very high-quality experience and more people should know about it.

Cheers and thanks again,

Kind regards,
